Man Charged With DUI After Fatal Head-On Crash

A man is charged with DUI for a head-on crash that killed a 65-year-old woman Friday afternoon in west suburban St. Charles.
About 2:05 p.m., Susan Gorecki was traveling southbound on North 2nd Street at Timbers Trail when a man driving northbound drifted across the center median and the vehicle he was driving struck Gorecki’s car head on, according to a statement from St. Charles police.
Gorecki, of St. Charles, was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva where she was later pronounced dead, police said.
The other driver, Joshua E. Spudich, was charged with four counts of aggravated DUI and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, DUI drugs, driving while license is revoked and improper lane usage, police said.
Spudich, 23, was taken to Kane County Jail where he is awaiting a bond hearing, police said.
