Celebrity DUI: Le’Von Bell Accepts Plea Deal for DUI With Marijuana

Los Angeles DUI drug arrests may become increasingly common over the next few years, as an increasing number of Californians turn to legal medicinal marijuana for treatment.

In August 2014, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Von Bell was arrested on charges of DUI and marijuana possession. According to Pittsburgh’s Channel 11 News, Bell will participate in a program for first-time offenders and will face a two-game suspension sometime within 2014 or 2015. A two-game suspension is “standard punishment” for NFL players convicted in a DUI case.

With 1,689 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns, Le’Von Bell has been one of the Steelers’ best players this season. However, as many celebrities find out, fame and status will not grant Bell complete immunity from his charges. He will be on probation for fifteen months.

UA receiver Samajie Grant cited on suspicion of DUI

Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Samajie Grant was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning, hours after helping the UA to a 42-35 win over rival Arizona State.
Grant will not start in Friday's Pac-12 Championship game against Oregon, coach Rich Rodriguez said in a statement to the Star on Saturday evening.
"We were notified earlier today of an issue involving Samajie Grant. After communicating with Samajie, local law enforcement and our athletics administration, we've decided that the appropriate form of action is to make sure Samajie receives counseling and takes part in community-service activities," Rodriguez said. "We're disappointed in Samajie's decision-making, but we expect this to be an isolated incident and he won't be starting in the Pac-12 Championship game."
Grant failed a field sobriety test, said Deputy Tom Peine, a spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Grant cooperated with authorities and was cited and released at the scene, Peine said. Grant was pulled over by a deputy on the DUI enforcement unit that was patrolling the area of North Campbell Avenue and East Sixth Street, Peine said.
The deputy noticed a Chevrolet Camaro traveling west on Sixth Street and turning north onto Campbell, Peine said. The deputy observed a vehicle with the license plate lights not working and observed behavior of a possibly impaired driver, he said.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop near Campbell and East Third Street and noted seven people in the vehicle. He also smelled marijuana from the car, Peine said.
Grant was identified as the driver and was asked to exit the vehicle, Peine said.
After failing the field sobriety test, probable cause was found to cite and release Grant for driving under the influence of drugs, minor in possession of spirituous liquor, person under 21 in physical control of a motor vehicle with spirituous liquor, and driving without a valid operator's license, Peine said.
The vehicle was impounded because Grant didn't have a driver's license, Peine said.
Grant, a sophomore from Compton, California, had four catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns in Arizona's win over Arizona State.
UA athletic director Greg Byrne said the athletic department was made aware of the incident Saturday.
"We've been in contact with Samajie and local law enforcement has informed us that he was cooperative during the process," Byrne said. "We're extremely disappointed in Samajie and he will be undergoing counseling and taking part in community service as a result of his actions."

Life & Style has learned that the 27-year-old Nebraskan, who posed nude for Playboy Amateurs, has had multiple run-ins with the law.

According to Nebraska state records obtained by Life & Style, aJade was charged with possession of alcohol in October 2004, and ordered to complete six months of probation and perform 20 hours of community service.
In December 2005, she was sentenced to 15 days in jail after being charged with a DUI, followed by six months of probation. Just as her probation ended, she found herself in trouble again — in April 2006, she was hit with two counts of petty theft amounting to less than $499.
Scotts Bluff County police officer Brian Wasson tells Life & Style the charges (which were later dismissed) came from her then-roommate, who returned from vacation with her boyfriend to find “their laptop and Xbox missing.” Rounding out her rap sheet, police nabbed Jade in April 2011 for allegedly shoplifting.
A police report claims Jade lifted Maidenform bras and panties, blush, a necklace and a pair of earrings from a Kohl’s department store. (A judge dismissed the charge when the items were recovered.)

Celebrity DUI: Bobby Brown Arrested for DUI

Another Celebrity DUI Arrest… WHITNEY HOUSTON‘s ex-husband BOBBY BROWN has just been arrested for DUI, according to the latest celebrity news

According to reports, Whitney Houston’s former hubby was pulled over in Reseda, California earlier today for talking on his cell phone while driving. However, the cops soon found out that Brown was actually drunk, with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.

Brown was immediately arrested for driving under the influence and taken to the Van Nuys jail.

An officer suspected 26-year-old actress Amanda Bynes had been drinking, and arrested her for driving under the influence. Celebrity Singers Facing DUI Trouble

Several celebrity songbirds appeared in the headlines recently for issues related to DUI arrests and DUI charges.

One is a Grammy winning songwriter, producer and actress best known for her soul-pop music, and the other is a one-time teen heartthrob slated to appear in a film about Liberace.

Singer and Grammy-winner Faith Evans pleaded no contest to DUI charges in a Los Angeles courtroom recently, following a DUI arrest back in August. The Grammy Award-winner was stopped at a DUI checkpoint in Marina del Rey on August 21 at around 10:40 p.m.

Evans was subsequently arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor drunk driving. As a part of the no contest plea, Evans will serve three years of probation, pay $300 in fines, agree not to drive with any alcohol in her system and undergo a 3-month alcohol treatment program, according to the Baltimore Sun.

She pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

Evans, well-known after she arrived on the pop music scene in the mid-90s, tweeted to her fans following the DUI arrest, telling them that “After completing a full day of wardrobe prep I was stopped at a random checkpoint. I’m fine and well, and thank you for your prayers, kind words and concerns.” She signed the tweet “- Fizzy.”

Evans and her husband were arrested for drug possession charges in 2004, for which she entered a drug abuse treatment program.

Teen idol David Cassidy also faced DUI trouble recently, when he was arrested for drunk driving in Florida, according to the LA Times.

Cassidy has a court date in mid January for charges that he failed a field sobriety test at around 6 in the evening. Police reportedly witnessed Cassidy weaving on the road and making an erratic lane change.

A Breathalyzer test came back having registered a .141 and a .139 blood alcohol content for the singer and actor.

Cassidy pleaded not-guilty to the charge. He admitted that he was tired, and that he had a glass of wine with lunch and took a hydrocodine pill for back pain.

According to police, there was a bottle of bourbon in the back seat that was half empty.

Cassidy faces a misdemeanor charge of DUI, failure to maintain a single lane and driving with an open container.
